
SRINAGAR — Three civilians were injured after suspected militants lobbed a grenade on police station Dhamhal Hanjpora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A police officer said that some militants hurled a grenade on police station Dhamhal Hanjpora which exploded near the roadside.
In the explosion, three civilians suffered splinter injuries and were hospitalized, he said.
The injured were identified as Ayaz Ah Bhat (splinter injuries on face) of Ashmuji Kulgam, Sabzar Ahmad Hajam (splinter injuries on throat) of Nandimarg and Bilal Ahmad Khatana (splinters on left arm) of Bangiward KB Pora.
Following the incident, government forces launched a cordon-and-search operation to nab the assailants.
Searches Unabated In Samba On PM’s Visit
A massive search operation is being conducted along the Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu’s Samba district for the second day Wednesday ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on February 3.
The Army, police and other government force continued the search operation in Basantar river area in Ramgarh sector besides other border hamlets, officials said.
The operation was launched following reports of suspected movement in border areas of Ramgarh sector, they said.
"A suspicious movement was noticed post Monday midnight by alert Army troops in Samba sector," an Army officer said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jammu and Kashmir on February 3 to lay the foundation stone of a host of projects, including the AIIMS project at Vijaypur area of Samba district.
