Doda, October 26
Two persons died and five others were injured when a Maruti Eeco car met with an accident near Ugaad on the Doda-Ugaad road this afternoon.
The vehicle was on its way to Doda from Ugaad and fell into a deep gorge when the driver lost control over it.According to the police, Sajad Hussain, a resident of Chitrana, died on the spot whereas Fazal Hussain, a teacher, succumbed to injuries at the District Hospital, Doda.
Eyewitnesses told The Tribune that the vehicle was overspeeding on the hilly road. “The driver was not having much experience and had started driving a month back. His inexperience on hilly roads led to the accident and death of two persons,” said an eyewitness.Immediately after the accident, locals rushed to the spot and brought the injured to the District Hospital from where five critically injured passengers were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for specialised treatment.
