Unidentified militant was killed in an ongoing operation in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday evening, the police officials said. They said the gunfight erupted during evening hours, when a joint team of the forces cordoned an orchard area near Drubgam in Pulwama. The identity of the slain militant was yet to be ascertained. SSP, Pulwama, Chandan Kohli said a contact with militants had been established and the operation was in progress.

Meanwhile, security forces foiled an attack in north Kashmir’s Baramulla after they arrested a militant associate with a grenade. The police said Omar Farooq of Ferozpora Sopore said he was caught threatening candidates while they were filling applications for the post of SPOs at the Baramulla railway station.— TNS
